Having A Bad Time by MuddyTiger Having A Bad Time by MuddyTiger
 I've just been getting hit hard with bad karma. I drew this picture in my chocked-up frustration of bad luck that won't let go of me. :turbopoke:
I thought of a good song to go with this, it's from "Icon for Hire - 'Caught in the Grey' " www.youtube.com/watch?v=tASwVP…

And for those who haven't seen Echo, m.youtube.com/watch?v=CUPHqhot…
this reminds me of it too. :D

Anyways~

(Troll Face Intended for Gaster)  :icontrollfaceplz:  :iconarrowrightplz:  :iconffffplz: (and fffff for Sans)

I intended the void/realm that Gaster is in to have limited use of magic, so when Sans summons bones, it soon begins to dissipate. I guess you can say that they have little to no effect there? I'm not so sure what that blackness is, other than a bad time waiting to happen. XD Gaster is just being a bystander and watching Sans struggle with it to see if he can get out or not. IDK. Hell, I wouldn't want to touch that goop either. LOL  I didn't want the design on Gaster to be scary or demonic, but when I started to color his face, it looked like he was milting like wet paint. So, I kept it like that. I then was thinking about other ways to have the body 'not there' but then that was too complicated for this piece. I went with a more simple 'vapor affect' instead. I remembered watching a YT video that had Gaster in a glitchy in shapes of boxes, so I went with that too for some parts.

I think this is a great piece, despite my rustiness on my skeleton anatomy. ^^; All drawn free handed using a Wacom pen and tablet on PS CS5.

Lol Puns, gotta love em! I know what ya mean. It takes FOREVER for me just to make a simple sketch, & I'm still practicing with poses & stuff. But practice makes perfect am I right?

Of course! Keep drawing and I suggest timing yourself. In my art class in college, my teacher had us do several timed art sketches. Ex. 5 sketches done in 5 minutes each. Then add more sketches in less time. We even had to do 20 sketches in one minute each! XD And this was with a live model, too.
This will help in several ways. I don't know if you're using traditional or digital, but try that out. Don't worry about little details. Just focus on posture, gesture, and body proportions.

I definitely have to try that out! I do both traditional & digital. Usually retracing a picture I scanned to the computer. I'm extremely picky with proportion, which drives me crazy if I goof up. Gestures, postures, hands, & faces I have a little trouble with. I'm getting better with them, but I'm still not where I want to be yet. Not saying my artwork isn't good, but yours is a masterpiece in comparison. I'll just have to keep practicing.

You know, you can post up your sketches and get critiques on them! That'll help a lot too. :D Plus, you can see your progress as you get better. Damn, I look back on my drawings and it's a complete turn around. XD lol but then again, I didn't have a tablet.

Speaking of tablets, mine isn't that fancy. My bf has a more pro version and I tried it out...I do prefer mine because I'm so used to it. I still do traditional art and use them to create textures, but still. Keep drawing! No matter what you have to use to get better, and discover your style of art and thrive in it. :dummy:

Thx! I really appreciate it!! I should probably do that. It is very amusing when you compare your older drawings to new ones. I have some very laughable ones myself. Yours don't look that bad though. To be honest, I didn't even notice until you said something. Lol

My tablet is very... boring. It's very touch & speed sensitive. If I touch it by accident with my finger it scribbles on the wrong spot, & if I move the pen too fast it starts to draw on its own even after I put the pen down. Scribbling all over the picture. So I rarely use it. I need to get a better one. Lol

Firstly what kind of tablet is it? Mine is a Intuos 5 touch size small, an older model. You can turn off the touch sensor though it's settings, and reduce sensitivity of the pen that you're using. Including the tilt, pressure, and any short-cuts and buttons that either the pen or tablet has. Play around with those settings until you find what's best to you.

As for an art program, at first I used a free one called GIMP. www.gimp.org/downloads/
If you can't afford anything at the moment, I think that one is a good start. Many other people will tell you what they use. There's just so many!

When it comes art skills, it's really what you want to do with your art. I liked Halo most as a kid, so I went with aliens and armor. Before that, it was horses and dragons. But now...well...I kinda haven't gotten out of that. XD I've been doing all sorts of things in my spare time. I'm just mainly known for my Halo work.
Going to a bookstore and reading from those "How to draw" books, REALLY helped a lot! I know most shun them, but they are great! Animes, animals, human anatomy, history on armor, all of those I studied because I want to be a character designer or a freelancer. (which I'm kinda doing already) :D

Just think about what you want to do with it and go from there. You have to start somewhere, right?
